25 years adrift in the creative industry.

I am Adrian Talbot, longstanding Design Director at creative studio Intro. I’m also a type designer selling my wares at Talbot Type; and a photographer, showing my images at Talbot Gallery. T3 is where I post updates of my attempts to stay afloat creatively

This is where
it all began
14 June 1990

Three CDs in a box. A compilation of British indie music of the 1980s, for the Japan market. A job that helped to put Intro on the design map.

Telstar Records sold TV advertised compilations, Now That's What I Call a House Party type of thing.

They were a significant early Intro client, we made the commercials to accompany the compilations. In order to establish ourselves we did a quantity of lower-value design, which allowed us to take on lesser-paid, more creative work. We didn’t expect Telstar to provide us with an opportunity to showcase our design talents.

Telstar were approached to create a compilation (compilations being their thing) of British Indie Music for the Japanese market, and had no idea how to package it, so left it to us. This was my most significant effort around this time and helped to get us noticed.
